A Butchery Masterclass with Executive Chef, Bruce Wilson

There's nothing like a hands on butchery masterclass with a group of chefs to bring added inspiration to autumn menu planning. And that's exactly what Bruce Wilson, our Executive Chef and Alex Hall, Group Head Chef had in mind when they brought together their band of chefs from each of our sites last week.

Bruce shared his in-depth knowledge about different cuts of meat, talked about all the different cuts of pork and also how to fillet different types of fish. It was also a great opportunity for all our chefs to integrate, share their ideas and discuss how we can make the most of the wealth of local suppliers available to us.

The chefs finished their day with a trip to Brixton Market to check out new street food offers which are becoming increasingly popular and to enjoy a tasty lunch together.

Valentines....a treat for ALL our customers

Not only did our art loving customers enjoy a fantastic evening at Dulwich Picture Gallery on Friday but our four legged friends in Greenwich Park also got in on the action!

For the whole Valentines week Creative Taste sold heart-shaped doggy biscuits from the Coffee & Bakehouse next to the General Wolfe Statue getting a big paws up from our canine locals!  A big thank you to Josh the Spaniel our lovely model.

Gift wrapped rose meringues and shortbread hearts were also a hit with our National Army Museum visitors.

Watch this space for an Easter installment...

Here's to 2014!

2013 was a fantastic year for Creativevents and Creative Taste.  We had some wonderful successes to announce including winning the mobile catering contract at RHS Hampton Court Flower Show for another 5 years and adding The Royal Parks, Greenwich Park to our list of venues.

We opened Dulwich Picture Gallery Café in May and have seen the newly refurbished café go from strength to strength, aided by new menus, local marketing and boosted sales from Bernadette our Citroen Van which provided a café operation in the garden throughout the summer.

Brooklands Museum also had an extremely busy year, and after the refurbishment of its event spaces saw a 51% increase in hospitality sales from October through to December compared with the previous year.  A fantastic result for the team and a credit to all their hard work!

As we roll into 2014 we look forward to opening our sites at Greenwich Park after their extensive refurbishment, continued growth in our exhibition centres, Earls Court, Olympia and ExCeL London and particularly to welcoming some fantastic new people to our senior team.

Happy New Year!

'In the Picture' at Dulwich Picture Gallery

A beautiful, dry evening set the tone for a fantastic night at Dulwich Picture Gallery last week where Creative Taste celebrated the success of our new partnership with the Gallery.  The Café, which was relaunched in June after its makeover (see previous blog!) has already seen a 60% increase in sales against the two previous years.

Guests at 'In the Picture' enjoyed plenty of our Chapel Down English Sparking wine and seasonal cocktails, wonderful canapés served on picture frames, music from the Wandering Hands Trio and speeches from both Ian Dejardin, Gallery Director and our own John Uphill, Operations Director.

After an exclusive tour of the current exhibition 'A Crisis of Brilliance', guests even had a chance to create some of their own art whilst enjoying a delicious selection of savoury bowls from our autumn menu.  A raffle which raised money for Dulwich Helpline provided the opportunity to win some fantastic raffles prizes including a much-coveted Mulberry handbag.
The event was wrapped up with a stunning artists palette dessert - with edible paintbrush to dip into colourful tasty paints and goody bags to take home with samples from some of our local suppliers.
